It is the statutory customs duty and regulatory tax mandated by the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) to register imported mobile hardware IMEIs on local cellular bands (Jazz, Telenor, Zong, Ufone) beyond the 60-day international traveler grace period.
Q. What is the difference between Passport and CNIC registration?
Passengers entering Pakistan with international boarding passes are entitled to register a single mobile handset against their passport at discounted customs slabs within 60 days of arrival. CNIC registration applies standard commercial individual rates without international travel exemptions.
Q. Is it safe to purchase non-PTA phones on resale.com.pk?
Every phone listed on resale.com.pk is explicitly verified by our physical plaza shop partners with PTA approval status declared on the offer sheet. Non-PTA units are clearly labeled with the exact calculated tax required to make them SIM-functional.
Q. How do I pay the tax once calculated?
You generate a PSID via the PTA DIRBS portal or dialing *8484# on your phone. You can pay the PSID through any Pakistani bank app (1Link), ATM, or Easypaisa/JazzCash.
